James J. Bauer

James J. Bauer, 75, of Lomira, passed away on Tues­day, Oct. 17, 2023, at Froedtert Hos­pi­tal in Mil­wau­kee.
James was born on July 28, 1948, in Fond du Lac to Ken­neth and Alice (Krapfl) Bauer.
He grad­u­ated from Mayville High School in 1966.
On Au­gust 4, 1973, James was united in mar­riage to Renee Crist at St. An­drew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy.
James was a mem­ber of St. An­drew’s and of the Catholic Knights.
James proudly served his coun­try in the United States Air Force and was sta­tioned in Ger­many. He was a mem­ber of the Lomira Amer­i­can Le­gion Post #347. James worked for many years in the Mil­wau­kee area as a mason. James was a hard worker and was al­ways will­ing to lend a hand.
James was an avid hunter of varmint busters. He en­joyed hunt­ing and fish­ing and was a mem­ber of the Mayville Gun Club and Hori­con Marsh Bow­man Club. He had a pas­sion for mo­tor­cy­cles and loved going for rides.
James put his fam­ily first and would do any­thing for them. He lived for his grand­kids and was so in­cred­i­bly proud of them.
James is sur­vived by his wife, Renee; chil­dren, Stacey (Brad) Bauer, Jason “Goobs” (Michelle) Bauer, Ryan (Tracy) Bauer, Richard (Renee) Bauer, and Stephanie (Erik) Gassner; five grand­chil­dren, Jacob, Dylan, Vance, Kennedi, and Hay­den; sib­lings, Kath­leen “Kitty” (Steve) Klein, Diane (Mike) Vollmer, Kris (John) But­zlaff, Dou­glas “Duff” (Eliz­a­beth) Bauer, Heidi (Ross) Re­ber­nick, Mark Bauer, and Gre­gory (Laura) Bauer. James is fur­ther sur­vived by nieces, nephews, other rel­a­tives, and many friends.
James was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents; sis­ter, Debra; and two nephews, Tony and Greg Vollmer.
A Mass of Chris­t­ian Bur­ial for James took place on Wednes­day, Oct. 25, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at St. An­drew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy with Rev. Fr. Joe Do­minic and Rev. Fr. Tom Bier­sack pre­sid­ing. Vis­i­ta­tion for James was held at the church on Wednes­day, Oct. 25, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of ser­vice at 1 p.m. Grave­side mil­i­tary hon­ors were con­ducted by the Lomira Amer­i­can Le­gion Post # 347.
