Lila Adeline Stahl, 90, of West Bend passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Serenity Villa Assisted Living in Campbellsport on December 30, 2023.

Lila was born in St. Lawrence, Town of Addison, Washington County, on August 24, 1933, to Raymond and Catherine (nee Zuern) Weninger. She was united in marriage to Allen P. Stahl on October 9, 1954, at Holy Angels Church in West Bend.

Lila graduated from West Bend High School in 1951. Early in her life she worked as a legal assistant for Lee Gonring Law Office. Lila’s true legacy was defined by her caring and compassionate nature for everyone she touched in church and community. She demonstrated stewardship throughout her entire life, by engaging with numerous organizations including the Christian Mothers’ Association, Meals on Wheels, and the Good Samaritan Guild. She donated countless hours in supporting and visiting the elderly and sick at both the Samaritan and Cedar Lake Homes. In 1955, Lila and her husband, Allen, were also founding charter members of St. Frances Cabrini Parish and School in West Bend, where Lila volunteered for various church and school activities.

In her spare time, Lila enjoyed golfing and was an active member of Hon-E-Kor in Kewaskum, where she won the ladies club championship in 1965. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, big band dancing with Allen, and she had numerous other hobbies, including furniture refinishing and canvas oil paintings.

Lila is survived by her three sons, Thomas (Elizabeth Scharenbroch) Stahl of St. Peter, John (Denise) Stahl of Kewaskum, Michael (Lori) Stahl of Celina, Texas; son-in-law, Thomas Calenberg of West Bend; seven grandchildren, April (Brian) McDonough, Ashlee (Coby) Zwiefelhofer, Marisa (Tom) Brown, Dawson Stahl, Alex (Tarah) Calenberg, Mitchell and Mason Stahl; six great-grandchildren, Jovie and Lyla McDonough, Cohen Zwiefelhofer, and Archer, Isla and Theo Calenberg; along with many other special relatives and friends.

Lila is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Allen; daughter, Christine Calenberg; sisters, Gloria Bonlender and Angeline Kandel; and brothers-in-law, Lester Bonlender and Jerome Kandel.

A Mass of Christian burial in memory of Lila will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1025 S. 7th Ave., West Bend, with Father Jacob Strand presiding. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the CHURCH ONLY on Saturday, January 6, 2024. Entombment will follow at Washington County Memorial Park. Everyone is welcome for a luncheon in the lower part of St. Frances Cabrini church immediately following the burial. The family is requesting memorial donations be made to the St. Frances Cabrini Parish.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Serenity Villa Assisted Living in Campbellsport for their loving and phenomenal care of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Our mother truly loved each and every one of the staff members at Serenity Villa.
