Betty Straub
Betty Straub, age 89 of Campbellsport, passed away peacefully at her home on July 30, 2019, with her family at her side.
Betty was born in Milwaukee on February 14, 1930, to Fred and Meta (nee Rathmann) Stoll. Her family moved to Elmore when she was one-year-old and she lived there until she moved to Campbellsport after her marriage.
Betty married Henry (Heinie) Straub on October 10, 1953, at St. Matthew’s Rectory. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Campbellsport.
Betty graduated from Campbellsport High School in 1947 and was employed at Campbellsport Mutual Insurance Co and Vande Zande Insurance Co. until 1956. She then became a stay at home mom until Henry and Betty purchased Raymond’s Red & White store, which later evolved into Straub’s Piggly Wiggly. She continued to work there until her retirement, and they eventually sold the business in 1999.
Betty enjoyed bowling with the women’s league and a mixed couples league with Heinie for many years. They loved traveling. They traveled through all the states except Alaska and Utah, across the southern border of Canada, Mexico, St. Thomas, Punta Cana and on a Caribbean cruise. She also enjoyed playing sheepshead. One of her greatest pleasures was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her children, Rick (Shirley) Straub of Campbellsport, Dr. Robert (Ione) Straub of Bayside, and Lori Borth of Fond du Lac. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Robyn Straub Swernoff and Bryan Straub of Bayside, David (Kelci Sundahl) Straub of Littleton, Colorado, David Swernoff of Bayside, Sara (Tim) King of McFarland and Jeremy (Katie) Schrauth of Campbellsport, and her great grandchildren Mia and Zoe Swernoff, Macy, Nolan and Avery King, and Carson and Viola Schrauth. She is further survived by her sistersin- law, Kathryn Krueger and Nancy Straub, her special niece, LaVerne Johnson, whom she considered to be her little sister, many other nieces and nephews and members of her card club.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, her parents, Fred and Meta Stoll, Henry’s parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Straub, her son-in-law, David Borth, her sisters, brothers-inlaw and sisters-in-laws, Mildred and Elmer Feuerhammer, Florence and Lester Hammen Sr., Albert and Marcella Straub, Allen Krueger and Harold Straub, her nephews and niece, Lester Hammen Jr, Bev and Jerry Ramthun and Donald Johnson.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of Agnesian Hospice Hope, Dr. Michael Vander Kooy, her niece Tammy Lindsley RN and the staff at the Cancer center. And a special thanks to her daughterin- law, Shirley Straub, for all the special care and massages she gave Betty during her last days.
