Jeffrey W. Frank, 65, of Mayville passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020. He was born July 24, 1955, the son of Kenneth and Lois Frank. Jeff was an engineer who worked at Metalcraft of Mayville for several years. He was a gentle soul who enjoyed good food, gardening, and being outdoors. Jeff was a loving father and grandfather and will be deeply missed. Jeff is survived by his daughters, Rhyannon Walker and Julaine (fiancé Dustin Bartsch) Koller and his grandchildren Felyx, Faye and Axyl Walker and Eden Koller. Also surviving are his father, Ken Frank; brothers, John Frank and Paul (Jorja) Frank; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Denese M. Myers-Byington, 85, of Tomahawk, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at Riverview Health Services after contracting COVID-19. Denese was born on November 1, 1934, to Harvey and Dorothea (Nebel) Luedtke, the second of eight children. She grew up on the family dairy farm in Lomira. After graduation in 1953, Denese headed out to Kansas City to train as a flight attendant for TWA. Upon arriving in the “big city,” she didn’t even know how to use a pay phone to call home. Denese enjoyed flying for over twenty years and told many colorful stories about her favorite overseas flights. In 1976, Denese moved to the Northwoods to work for her sister, Donna, at her women’s clothing store in Tomahawk. There she met and married Jim Myers in 1977. Unfortunately, Jim passed away in 1986. Denese was lucky enough to find happiness again when she met Casey Byington, the man who could always make her laugh. They were married on October 26, 1990. They both loved to golf and Denese was especially proud of her hole-in-one. After retiring, Denese and Casey bought a winter getaway in Bradenton, FL, where they could start every morning with a round of golf or a walk on the beach. The two of them were a well-known couple in Bradenton and Tomahawk, stopping regularly at many local establishments to share laughter and good cheer. Sadly, Casey passed away first on July 22, 2018, after 28 years of marriage. Denese is survived by one sister, Donna (Ron) Sterr, of Tomahawk; one brother-in-law, Lloyd (Sally) Byington, and one sister-in-law, “Chub” (Janice) Byington, both of Wonewoc; five step-children, Nancy (Leslie) Myers of Hortonville, Tom (Sandy) Myers of Bradenton, FL, Terry (Tony) Barnes of Hillsboro, Kevin Byington of Greensboro, PA, and Suzanne (Chris) Beard of Rockton, IL; nine step-grandchildren, Tara Myers of Bradenton, FL, Ashley Pollock of Lakeland, FL, Tiffany (Lee) Barnes of Presque Isle, Ashley (Ken) Kishman of Monona, IA, Jared (Sarah) Barnes of Caledonia, MN, Corrine Byington of Wonewoc, Alexis Byington of Hudson, FL, Amanda Endicott of Waconda, IL, and Kayla Brewer of Louisville, KY; further survived by 16 step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, as well as many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Dorothea; her siblings, Diane Luedtke, Darlene Gampka, Randy, Leon, Joel Luedtke, and an infant sister, Debra; her two husbands, Jim and Casey; a stepson, Kent Byington; and a step-grandson, Kyle Brewer. June Schmidt, 93, of Horicon, passed away peacefully on Thursday Nov. 5, 2020 at UW Hospital in Madison. June was born the daughter of William and Laura (Zimmerman) Johns on June 21, 1927, in Beaver Dam. She was united in marriage to Lester Schmidt on May 1, 1954, in Beaver Dam, and raised their four children in the Township of Burnett. June was a receptionist at Beaver Dam Hospital before going on to her career at Production Credit Association in Juneau. She had many hobbies; quilting, sewing, crossword puzzles, reading books and the Bible. She loved to work in her flower garden, but also enjoyed camping, fishing, and cheering her children and grandchildren on in the many sports they participated in. She also looked forward to the many getaways to their cabin on Crooked Lake, and travel tours with friends. June was a lifelong faithful member of St. Stephens Church in Horicon. She also was an active volunteer with Bethesda. June is survived by her children, David (Louise) Schmidt of Harshaw, Brian (Jean) Schmidt of Horicon, Kurt (Jeanee) Schmidt of Horicon; her sister, Lois Perdue; her grandchildren, Matthew Schmidt, Jaclyn Schulz, Austin Schmidt, Anna Schmidt, Keith Bentz, Danielle Bettine, Kenneth Schmidt, Kristina Schmidt, Jennifer Schmidt; her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lilyan, Rylan, Brielle, Beckett, Brock, Levi, Jordy, Hannah, Harper, Kaylee. Stein, 76, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020, at his home in Lowell where he has lived the past 41 years. Dennis Bruce Stein was born on June 9, 1944, in Wausau, to Clifford and Hazel (Koenig) Stein. After high school, he attended technical college where he received an associate degree in Aircraft Mechanics. Dennis served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed at an airfield in Germany. His interest in flying stayed with Dennis throughout his life. He worked as airplane mechanic at the airport in Watertown. He was a recreational pilot and owned his own plane and was a past president of EAA Chapter 20 in Watertown. Dennis was also an active member of the community. He served as a First Responder in Lowell and Reeseville and was a member of the Lowell Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Mary Stein of Lowell; three daughters, Nicole Stein and Jamie Stein of Lowell, and Diana (Aaron) Duenkel of Iron Ridge; his sister, Barbara Stein of Wausau; his brother-in-law, Anton (Debra) Wiesman of Wausau; three sisters-in-law, Carol (Jim) Sebranek of Reedsburg, JoAnn (John) Gilchrist of Marathon, and Nancy (Greg) Senst of Minnesota; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends Visitation for Dennis was at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon on Monday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. A private Mass of Christian Burial followed at church on Monday beginning promptly at 10 a.m. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Marathon, at 2:30 pm. He was born the son of Clarence Sr. and Lucille (Polzen) Kanas on July 7, 1938, in Neda. Clarence was united in marriage with Barbara Sturm on June 22, 1957, at Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon. Clarence retired from Gleason after 43 years of employment. Clarence was a member of St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Iron Ridge. He was a softball umpire for 40 years and liked to watch all high school sports. Clarence enjoyed going camping, hunting and fishing. Most of all Clarence loved spending time at his home, with his family. Lorena E. Genzmer, 92, of Horicon, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam. Lorena was born on October 28, 1928, to Michael and Magdalena (Henker) Wipple in Horicon. She was a 1948 graduate of Horicon High School. Lorena was united in marriage with Jerome Genzmer on May 9, 1953, at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon. She was a receptionist for Dr. Fred Karsten’s Office. Lorena was a member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon and sang in the choir. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, Sudoku puzzles and reading. Lorena will be missed by her children, Gayl (Marc) Zuelsdorf of Horicon and Jerry (Jill) Genzmer of Horicon; grandchildren, Stacy, Stephanie and Kyle Zuelsdorf, Emily and Shelby Genzmer; great-grandchildren, Ella and Kadyn. Rodney Allen Giese, 88, of Iron Ridge passed away on October 30, 2020 at Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam. Rodney Allen Giese, son to Verona (Bartelt) and Walter Giese, was born July 14, 1932. He was united in marriage to Rita A. Liegl on July 18, 1959. Rodney wore many hats and had many roles in his life: Son, Brother, Loving Husband, Father (Dad), and was affectionately known as Grandpa, Gramps, Papasan, Great-Grandpa, Great-Papa, Big Rod and Uncle Rod. Rodney played baseball in his younger years, and was a heck of a pitcher. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and fishing. He made sure to teach all of his children how to hunt and fish. He loved his country music (the old time Willie, Buck Owens, etc). He enjoyed taking road trips with his late wife Rita, playing cards with friends and family and trips to the casino with loved ones. Rod loved watching sporting events on TV, especially the Milwaukee Brewers, and Green Bay Packers. He looked forward to visits and spending time and reminiscing with loved ones. He will always be remembered for his infectious smile, his humor and his kind and loving heart, and occasionally popping his dentures out to make you laugh. Rodney worked most of his working years at Mayville Metal in Mayville. Rodney is survived by five children, Jeffrey Liegl of Lomira, Denice (Gary) Sternat of Lomira, Roxann (Cesare) Mazzolari of Iron Ridge, Tammy (Robert) Haugen of Iron Ridge, Kimberly (Andrew) Hanke of West Bend. Rod is survived by brothers, Robert Giese and Duane (Gus) Giese of Mayville. Rodney is also survived by his grandchildren, Jeremy (Jessie) Liegl, Danielle Jo (Matt) DuFrane, Chad Giese, Corissa (J.J.) Finley, Tyler (fiancée Leah) Sternat, Erica (Dan) Bartsch, Cody Mazzolari, Alia (special friend Sean) Mazzolari, Brady Haugen, Kendra (Dominic) Malkowski, Stacey (James) Brady, Brock (fiancée Kasey) Hanke, and Bryce (special friend Rachelle) Hanke; his great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Mathew, William, Jackson, Adela, Emerson, Preston, Collin (ChiChi), Rory, Dax, Victoria, Declan, and two new additions coming soon.
