Zachary David Krapfl


Zachary David Krapfl, 25, of Denver, CO, passed away on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, at his home. Zach was born on August 3, 1995, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to David and Laura (Galle) Krapfl. He grew up in the LeRoy and West Bend areas. Zach shared a love of construction and remodeling houses with his brother and enjoyed fishing, baseball and music. Zach was a sweet and kind young man who suffered from an addiction that took him too early. His struggle is over and he is finally at peace. Zach is survived by his parents, Laura (Edward Mandel) Galle of Port Washington and David (Dottie “Deter” Andaloro) Krapfl of Allenton; brothers, Ryan (Amethyst) Krapfl of Fond du Lac, Jake (Marah Kaufman) Krapfl of Denver, CO, and sister, Elizabeth Krapfl of Vandalia, IL; nephews, Jacoby, Leon, and Bennett. He is further survived by his paternal grandmother, Margaret Krapfl; aunts and uncles, Jodi Roberts, Joe (Trish) Harrington, Jill (Darris) Wasmund, Becky Krapfl, Kristi (Tim) Brewer, Bill (Janell) Krapfl, Matt (Jaime) Krapfl, Maria (Joe) Allen, Michael (Karen Spencer) Galle, and Melissa (Jason) Hutter; special cousins, Abbygail and Owen Krapfl, and numerous other cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Arthur Krapfl; and maternal grandparents, Linda and Gary Lefeber. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in LeRoy in the summertime.

Gary E. Bogenschneider


Gary E. Bogenschneider of Mercer, passed on to his heavenly home on February 19, 2021, from Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Fond du Lac, on July 1, 1944, the son of Elmer and Agnes (Benter) Bogenschneider and grew up in Mayville. He went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin – Madison School of Engineering in January 1967. He served in the US Army 1967 to 1969. Gary was united in marriage to Kathryn (Kit) Taplick on June 18, 1966. He worked as a professional civil engineer and construction project manager. His hobbies included fishing, bird hunting, camping, canoeing, baking bread, reading, and eating pie! He was active with the Friends of the Mercer Public Library. He served his Lutheran Church homes as Congregational Chairman, Elder, and kids’ Bible Class teacher. He is survived by his wife; his son, Tim (Heidi); granddaughters, Joclyn (Joseph Rhoades) and Lisa; three great-grandchildren; and his brother, Ron (Carolyn). He was preceded in death by his son, Mark. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 2701 W. Kichak’s Landing Road, Mercer, WI 54547, or to Friends of the Mercer Public Library, 2648 W. Margaret Street, Mercer, WI 54547. Gene “Geno” Korth


Gene “Geno” Korth, 66, of Iron Ridge passed away on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, at his home with his loving wife by his side. Gene was born the son of Fred and Gertrude (Hagert) Korth on January 5, 1955, in Milwaukee. He was married to Diane L. Koepsell on July 13, 1985, at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon. Gene retired from Associate Engineering in Hustisford. Gene was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Browns Corner. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. He was a member of the Sinissippi Trail Hawks Snowmobile Club and the Horicon Marsh Snowmobile Club. Gene also enjoyed camping at Castle Rock County Park in Adams. Gene is survived by his wife, Diane of Iron Ridge; sisters, Carrie (Glenn) Bartsch and Jackie (Pat) Finn; sister-in-law, Phyllis Ewert; brothers-in-law, Larry (Lois) Koepsell and Melvin Hundt; nieces and nephews, John (Melissa) Gutierrez, Jenny Hoff, Sean (Alegandra) Finn, Christopher (Becky) Finn, Sarah (Eric) Mora, Shannon (Peter) Mural, Cheryl (Dennis) Bergmann, Linda (David) Miller, Brenda (Ryan) Nehls, Karen (Todd) Rosenthal, Daryl (Debbie) Hundt, Terry (Dawn) Hundt, Julie (Bill) Luehring, Rhonda Hundt, Janet (Jamie) Boehlke, and Jeff Bartsch; great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. A private celebration of life will take place on Saturday, Feb. 27, at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church in Horicon. Rev. Jonathan Szczesny will officiate. Renoda Louise Dogs

Renoda Louise Dogs


Renoda Louise (Budahn) Dogs was born February 19, 1940, in the Town of Theresa. She was the daughter of Martin and Recella (Justman) Budahn. She was received into the kingdom of God by holy baptism on March 10, 1940, at Zion Lutheran Church, Theresa, by the Reverend Herman Cares. She was confirmed in the faith on March 29, 1953, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hartford. Her confirmation verse gave her comfort throughout her life: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose - Romans 8:28. On July 25, 1959, Renoda was united in marriage to Clifford E. Dogs in a ceremony conducted by the Reverend Walter Reinemann at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hartford. Their marriage was blessed with three children. Cliff and Renoda ran a dairy farm together in the Town of Theresa for much of their married life. Renoda also worked for several doctors and dentists in Theresa and Hartford. She enjoyed greeting patients, arranging schedules, organizing the offices and assisting as needed. Renoda was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on the Altar Guild and in the Trinity Ladies Society. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, gardening, crocheting, and lovingly spent time taking care of her husband and family. Renoda and Cliff spent 21 winters at their second home in North Fort Meyers, FL, vacationing with friends and family. Renoda was thankful to be able to move into her new home in December, which enabled her to stay at home with her family until she passed away, following her long battle with cancer. Renoda is survived by Clifford, her husband of 61 years; and three children, Larry (Noreen) of Theresa, Lori (Randel) Fink of Muskego, and Holly (Edward) Judt of Pleasant Prairie; two sisters, Ruth Siegmann of Rubicon and Rachel (Steven) Steger of Hartford; brothers and sisters-in-law, Florence (Melvin) Teske of Yakima, WA, Eugenie (Earl) Hildebrandt of Mayville, Norbert (Doris) Dogs of Kenosha, and Gary (Deborah) Dawes of Grand Junction, CO; thirteen grandchildren, Daniel (Alyssa) Dogs, Sarah (Joshua) Bender, Michael (Katherine) Dogs, Katherine (Nicholas) Ertmer, Jonathan (Emily) Fink, Joshua (Jessica) Fink, Andrew Fink, Elizabeth Fink, Michael (Kari) Judt, Matthew (Rachel) Judt, Thomas Judt, Katherine Judt and Joseph Judt; thirteen great-grandchildren, William, Benjamin, Samuel, Sophia, Jackson, Frederick, Wilhelmina, Orie, Adeline, Noa, Harper, Emery, and Bodhan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Renoda was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Rosa; and a brother-in-law, Leonard Siegmann. A private family funeral will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiated by the Reverend Jeffery Drake. Kuen, 66, of Lomira passed away on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du lac. He was born on January 21, 1955, to Clarence and Delores (Lettau) Kuen in Waupun. Doug graduated from Lomira High School. On June 8, 1974, he was united in marriage to Chris Unferth at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lomira. Doug worked as an assembler at John Deere for over 30 years until his retirement in 2016. He loved long weekends spent at the family cottage on Legend Lake where he went boating, jet skiing and fishing. He especially enjoyed this time with his children, grandchildren, and extended family. Doug also enjoyed four-wheeling, golfing, deer hunting, cribbage and sheeps-head. He and Chris loved traveling together and visited many different states and countries over the years. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Those Doug leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Chris Kuen; two children, Todd (Kim) Kuen and Jill (Jim) Margelowsky; five grandchildren, Harlow and Monroe Kuen, and Brandon, Jared, and Stephanie Margelowsky; a sister, Nancy (Dewey) Stevens; two brothers, Gary (Judy) Kuen and Chuck (Sue) Kuen; his mother-in-law, Doreen Unferth; four sisters-in-law, Sandy (Rich) Zitlow, Tari (Ric) Bloohm, Becky (Jeff) Luedtke, and Lori (Mark) Immel; two brothers-in-law, Jeff (Elaine) Unferth and Steve (Amy) Unferth; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Don Unferth. Charles Schouten

Visitation:  Saturday, Feb. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m.  Service:  Saturday, Feb. 13, at 4 p.m.  Location:  First Reformed Church in Waupun Charles Schouten, 94 of Waupun, was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, at his home with family by his side. Charles was born on July 16, 1926, in the home that he lived in his entire life. He was the son of Charles and Hattie (De Motts) Schouten. On September 1, 1948, he was united in marriage to Rose Vande Slunt in Waupun. Together they joyfully raised three children on the family farm. The Schoutens owned the farm for over 100 years. Charles was a dairy farmer until 1969, and was also a mechanic for Lee Turtleott. After he sold the dairy cows, Charles and Rose switched to raising steers and cash cropping. He was also a truck driver for Moorman’s Feed. In 1989, Charles retired as a mechanic for the Waupun City Garage. He loved his family and cherished his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charles’ greatest request was that his children be kind and love one another. Charles enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing and traveling out West with his family. Another favorite pastime was feeding and watching the birds. His family was all taught so much from him, building things, learning mechanical repairs, and so much more. He was a great storyteller and prankster. Charles also had a great passion for all their dogs. He loved old Westerns, especially John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. Charles’ family will always think of him when watching them. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Rose; loved and adored by his two daughters, Charleen (Martin) Hidde of Waupun and Lori (Dean) Bauer of Brownsville; four grandchildren, Tony (girlfriend, Amanda) Hidde, Eric (Tiffany) Hidde, both of Waupun, Lucas (Alexis) Bauer of North Fond du Lac and Hattie (boyfriend Sage) Bauer of Brownsville; five great-grandchildren, Easton, Kendall, Kinsley, Cheyanne and Wyatt; a sister, Helen Bille of Waupun; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis; a brother, Delmar and his sister, Gladys. Visitation for Charles will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, at First Reformed Church, 422 West Franklin Street, Waupun. A memorial service for Charles at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, at church with Pastor Barry Lang officiating. Joseph S. Planasch, 91, of Horicon passed away on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family in Horicon. Joe was born the son of Martin and Rose (Hussli) Planasch on April 7, 1929. He attended Horicon High School until entering the US Navy from 1946 to 1950. Joe was united in marriage to Bernice Lauersdorf on June 7, 1957. He had worked as skilled carpenter for 16 years and an iron worker with the Iron Workers Local 8 for 25 years. Joe was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and politics. He was a beautiful cabinet maker, made bows and arrows, built boats, and also raced boats when he was young. He was truly a ‘jack of all trades’. Joe was very proud of his children. Joe is survived by his wife, Bernice of Horicon; his daughter, Christine of Juneau; his son, Donald (Nadine Lehman) of Mayville; his sister, Mary Buschkopf of Surprise, AZ; his four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws; sister, Theresa and a sister in infancy, Kathryn; his brother, Martin, Jr., and five brothers-in-law. A memorial service for Joe is being planned for a later date at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon with the Rev. Sharon Ann “Sherry” Kohli


Visitation:  Wednesday, Feb. 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home and Thursday, Feb. 11, 12 to 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lomira  Service:  Thursday, Feb. 11, at 2 p.m.  Location: St. John's Lutheran Church in Lomira Sharon Ann "Sherry" (Kietzer) Kohli, 77, of Lomira, was called home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 5, 2021, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Sherry was the daughter of Lester and Bernice (Beitz) Kietzer, born July 27, 1943, in Fond du Lac. Valedictorian of the Lomira High School class of 1961, Sherry went on to UW-Oshkosh for two years. On March 15, 1964, she married her high school sweetheart Alfred "Al" Kohli Jr. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lomira. A lifelong student of ornithology, she was always on the lookout for special birds, particularly cardinals. An avid game player she enjoyed bridge, sheepshead, and casinos. There was never a puzzle too complex for her to tackle. Always cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, she never missed a game. Reading was Sherry's special joy as well as cooking and baking the best apple pies and cookies. Sherry and Al visited all 50 states including Washington DC and traveled many times to Louisiana to visit her granddaughter. Sherry was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lomira. She was also an active member of The Friends of the Lomira Library. Left behind to cherish Sherry's memory are her husband, Al; three children, Terryl "Terry" Hopper of Springfield, LA, Steven "Steve" Kohli of Green Bay, and Kristine "Kris" (John) Rigotti of Lomira; granddaughter, Danielle Hopper; Tony Beauchamp and Jeff Kohlmann extended family to Kris and John; her brother, Michael "Mike" (Laurene "Red"); sisters-in-law, Betty (Mike) Schraufnagel and Jane Kietzer; brothers-in-law, Morris Rose and John (Theora "Teddy") Kohli; nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. In addition to her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by her son, Bryan "Beezer" Kohli; son-in-law, Nelson Hopper Jr.; brother, Robert "Bob" Kietzer, and sister, Barbara Rose. The family greeted friends and relatives at Kietzer-Miller Funeral Home, 350 Main Street, Lomira, on Wednesday, Feb. 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday, Feb. 11, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 550 Water Street, Lomira, from noon until 2 p.m. The service for Sherry will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lomira, on Thursday Feb. 11, at 2 p.m. Rev.
