Carolyn Laura Krueger (nee Gilman), 80, of Eden, died peacefully on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at home surrounded by family. She was born January 23, 1942, in Eureka, California, to Levi and Margaret Gilman. Mom grew up in Tillamook, Oregon, in a house her dad built with his own hands. As a child, Mom was very sick with rheumatic fever and bedbound for quite some time. Her most loving memory from childhood is her mom carrying her up and down the steps at school so she could attend school again. As a teenager, mom and her friends, Marmie and Ann, loved hanging out and having fun at the Fern Café. Mom attended Tillamook High School.When babysitting at her sister’s house in Seattle, she was walking with her friend when a crazy, but handsome driver almost ran her over while crossing the street. It was love at first sight and he asked her out. After four dates, he proposed. They were married on May 8, 1959, in Tillamook, Oregon. Together they started their family there. In 1970, they moved to Wisconsin, eventually settling in Campbellsport. Mom worked at Reliable Knitting in Campbellsport from 1974 until retirement when she turned 65.Mom’s loves included her papers dolls from her mom and dad, angel collecting, reading about angels, watching paranormal shows, flower gardening especially being known for her beautiful clematis’, writing, with being a published poet. Her biggest love was her road trips with “Daddy” (Jerry) to explore the west.One of the most meaningful moments in mom’s life happened in 2001 when she kept her promise to her dad and pursued and received her high school diploma.Carolyn is survived by four daughters, Sheryl (Thomas) Gellings, Carol Will, Robin (Thomas) Ostergaard, Jerri (Thomas) Krueger-Moore; daughter-in- law, Helga Krueger Conrad; 13 grandchildren, Melissa (Dave) Kutil, Nicole Gellings, Holly (Charlie) Labarca, Kimberly (Ben) Pankratz, Laurel Kohrt, John Will, Ashley (Felix) Cruz, Tyler (Cayla) Weeks, Brittney Weeks, Elle (Avery) Henne, Austin Moore, Sebastian (Manuela) Krueger, Fabian Krueger; 15 great-grandchildren; and her kitty, Mitzie (Baby).Carolyn was preceded in death by the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” Krueger; her parents; her older sister, Sharleen Christensen; and younger brother, Leonard Gilman; son, Uwe Krueger; and son-in-law, John Will; father and mother-in-law, Allan and Viola Krueger; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, and grandson-in-law, Jarod Kohrt.A private service will be held for immediate family at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park followed by entombment.Our family thanks SSM Health ICU nurses Lisa, Brooke, and Cheyenne and SSM Health Hospice caregivers Denise, Heather, Betty, Marissa, and Amanda for the love and exceptional care they pro - vided to our mom.Services are in the care of Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 North Park Avenue, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935.
