James Ehlers, 68, of Mayville passed away after a short battle with cancer on March 29, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.   James was born on August 16, 1953, in Fond du Lac, the son of Delbert and the late Violet (Pusch) Ehlers. Jim was baptized on September 6, 1953 at Zion Lutheran in Theresa.       He attended St. John’s Lutheran School in Mayville and was confirmed on May 1967 by Pastor Ladwig. Jim graduated with honors from Mayville High School in 1971.   After high school Jim attended one year at Iowa State University, in Ames, IA., with hopes of becoming a veterinarian. As many freshmen do, Jim changed his major, and continued his education at the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy with a degree in Pharmacy graduating in May of 1977. James received his pharmacy license in 1978.   The highlight of Jim’s life was working as a pharmacist. He loved every minute each place he worked was ‘his family’ starting with his internship at Menomonee Falls, then to Osco in Marinette. He later transferred to Osco in Fond du Lac. Then he decided to try hospital pharmacy and he reached out to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee. After a while, he became an independent pharmacist working for Aurora Medical Centers, Mile Bluff Medical Center in Mauston, Guderson St. Joseph Hospital in Hillsboro, Holy Family in Manitowoc and back to St. Joseph in Milwaukee.   James did take some time off to travel to Europe, Greece, and several cruises. He loved to visit his Florida home annually. Traveling with Jim was always an adventure; there was always something that didn’t go as planned.   He was a lifelong member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville.    Those he leaves behind are his father, Delbert Ehlers of Mayville; his sister, Bonnie (Wayne) Schultz of Mayville; his brother, David (Beth) Ehlers of Plymouth; his niece, Tammy (Ron) Walters and her children Emily and Aaron; his nephew, Ken (Jenny) Drake and his children Olivia and Owen; his step niece, Jenny (special friend Kurt Frank) Thompson and her children, Jocelyn and Andrea; his step-nephew, Kevin (Becky) Schultz and their children, Austin, Hayden, Cohen, and Blake. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends.   He was preceded in death by his mother Violet in 1991, and a stillborn brother in 1957.   A memorial service for Jim took place on Monday, April 4, at 11 a.m. at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Mark G. Cutler and Rev. Joshua Frazee officiating. Visitation took place on Sunday, April 3, from 1 to 4 p.m. at St. John’s in Mayville and again on Monday, April 4, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.    Isabelle C. Guse, 100 years, 10 months and 5 days of Mayville, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022.   Isabelle was born on May 22, 1921, the daughter of George and Agnes (Bauer) Feucht in Kekoskee.   On August 28, 1943, she was married to Erwin A. Guse at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville.    As a young girl, Issy (Isabelle), loved to sing and play guitar on the local radio station with her friend Jeanette Lechner. They even made a few records. After being married she loved being a wife and mom to her six children. She enjoyed sharing stories and food (there was always great food) and laughing with her family and friends. She had a fun loving spirit and was always up for an adventure. It was an amazing childhood growing up with such a wonderfully feisty, loving mother.    Isabelle had been a cook for St. Mary’s Catholic Schools and also for Mayville High School for many years.    She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she was a rosary leader. She had been a volunteer for the blood mobile. She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed cooking, baking and canning.   Isabelle is survived by her children, Roger Guse of Oshkosh, Jim (Ellen) Guse of Fox Lake, Kathleen (Steve) Kurtzweil of Chaska, MN, Christine (Russ) Hanson of Brookfield, Mary Ann (Dr. Neil) Wiseley of Mayville and Terese (Tom) Schneider of Chaska, MN; her grandchildren, Paul (Hannah Lund) Guse, Beth (Mark) Romero, Sarah Guse, Leah (Harvey) Meyer, Dr. Morgan (Nick) Abbott, Dr. Benjamin Wiseley, Rachel (Derek) Schultz, Laura (Steve Dybvad) Hanson, Kyle Hanson, Stephanie Kurtzweil, Jason Kurtzweil, Ryan Schneider, Luke Schneider, Erin Schneider, and Will Schneider; 11 great-grandchildren; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Erwin in 2017; her sister, Margaret; and her brothers, August, Alex, Albert, Gilbert and Norman.   A Mass of Christian Burial took place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mayville on Monday, April 4, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Tom Biersack presiding. A visitation was held on Monday, April, from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church.    Jacquelyn DeTuncq, 73, of Mayville passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022, at Crossroads in Fond du Lac.   Jacquelyn was born the daughter of Charles and Lila (Rick) Volk on September 24, 1948, in Milwaukee.   She was united in marriage to Edward ‘Chip’ DeTuncq on January 18, 1969, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in West Bend.   Jacquelyn worked as a travel agent and loved to travel. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially spoiling the grandchildren. Jacquelyn also loved to craft and made many gifts for family and friends. She loved life and wanted the people around her to be happy and healthy.   She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville.   She is survived by her husband, Edward ‘Chip’ of Mayville; her daughters, Amy Lynn Helein and Tracy Ann (Steven) Nadolski; her siblings, Carolyn Volk, Marilyn Krueger, and Gary (Judy) Volk; her grandchildren, Teague, Alex, and Reilly Nadolski and Jonathan and Connor Helein; further survived by other relatives and many friends.   Jacquelyn was preceded in death by her parents; son, Joseph; and her son-in-law, Gary Helein.   A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 5 at 4 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville with the Rev. Fr. Tom Biersack presiding.    Charles Henry Van de Zande passed away on March 20, 2022, two days before his 93rd birthday.   He was born in Columbia Hospital, Milwaukee, on March 22, 1929, and raised in Campbellsport. He graduated from Campbellsport High School in 1947 where he lettered in three sports.   He graduated from Lawrence College (now University) in 1951 with the combined major physics/math. During the summers, while in high school and college, he worked at Mauthe Lake State Forest. After college, he enlisted in the US Air Force.   While in the Air Force, he met and married Paulette Douglas Chambers from Hampton, VA. He received an honorable discharge from the Air Force as a 2nd Lt. In 1953.   He worked for RCA as a semiconductor design engineer, in Somerville, NJ, for 10 years. While at RCA, he earned a Master of Science degree in Applied Statistics from Rutgers.   He worked for IBM as a Quality and Reliability Engineer in East Fishkill, NY, from 1963 to 1978, and at the Research Triangle Park in Durham, NC, from 1978 to 1996. After retiring from IBM, he taught for 15 years in the Industrial Engineering Department at NC A&T State University. During this period, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to teach statistics at the University of Mauritius for one year.   He was a leader in the Boy Scouts, both as a youth and as an adult. His public service was 11 years in the Bay Leaf Volunteer Fire Department and 13 years in the NC Search and Rescue Dog Association. He co-founded several long-distance foot races and the summer track series in the Poughkeepsie, NY, area. He was a competitive long-distance runner and completed 26 marathons.   He had a life-long love of playing music and played the trumpet in several big bands and concert bands, including the Greensboro Big Band and Concert Band. In later years, he taught himself to play several stringed instruments, the concertina and keyboards.   He was a member of “Math Nerds,” an early online community that helped students solve mathematical problems.   In his waning years, he lived at Abbotswood at Irving Park, Greensboro, NC, for about six years where he participated in theater and chorus, and served on several committees. In 2019, he moved to Brookdale Chambrel Williamsburg, Virginia, where he was involved with bridge, chess and music programs, and he loved showing off his knowledge in trivia games and challenges.   He is survived by his wife, Paulette Van de Zande; son, Derrik (Sandy) Van de Zande; daughter, Jeanette (Keith) Navia; daughter, Elaine (Stanley) Van de Zande Schwartz; daughter, Mary (John) Kramer; granddaughter, Georgia Dawn Van de Zande; and grandson, Charles Ty Van de Zande; brother, Steve Van de Zande of Tucson AZ; and nephew, Timothy Van de Zande.   Charles’ son, Charles “Douglas” (Linda) Van de Zande predeceased him.   At his request, there will be no service.    Marlene Louise Schacht (nee Yogerst), 77, of Rubicon, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 22, 2022, with her children by her side.    Marlene was born November 11, 1944, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee.   She was united in marriage to Lyle Walter Schacht on November 9, 1968, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls. They bought a home in Rubicon and moved there to start a family. There they became active members of St. John’s Catholic Church.   She was an organist for the parish for many years and was also a longtime member of the Christian Mothers organization.   Marlene leaves behind her four adoring children, Michael (Heather) Schacht, Laura (Michael) Eggleston, Renee (the late Michael) Barzano, Erin (Aaron) Kielisch; sixteen grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Also cherished siblings Paul, Mark, Peter (Heather), Raymond, and Henry (Maria) Yogerst, and Mary Rose (Eugene) Herther; sisters-in-law Bernice Bindrich, Shirley Becker, Sue Yogerst; brother-in-law Lloyd (Ruby) Schacht. She is further survived by many other loved relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Lyle; parents, Norman and Agnes Yogerst; step-mother, Irene Yogerst; parents-in-law, Harold and Erna Schacht; siblings, Karen, John, and Rita Yogerst; siblings-in-law, Edie Yogerst, Nancy Yogerst, Vernon and Marion Schacht, Armand Becker, Robert Bindrich; and son-in-law, Michael Barzano.   Marlene’s legacy includes thousands of hand-crafted items. She loved to spend her time knitting, sewing, and crocheting. She started her many years of donations by sewing blankets for the SHARE welfare organization. Her talents also benefited the annual St. John’s Fall Festival, and hundreds of children had warm hands from the mittens that were crocheted over many decades. Local babies were gifted their first handmade blanket or crocheted hat as they went home from the hospital. Many other families have heirloom sweaters or afghans that continue to be handed down through generations. Scout mothers were thankful for her skills when it came to sewing patches on vests and sashes. Most recently she dedicated many hours creating items for the Shoe Box Club, an organization that sends toys and necessities to needy children all over the world.    Funeral services in remembrance of Marlene were held at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St, Hartford on Saturday, March 26, at 11 a.m. with Fr.
