Joan E. Bassill, 86, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Serenity Villa in Campbellsport with her beloved family gathered around her. She was born on August 2, 1936, in the Town of Eden, the daughter of Herbert A. and Mae E. (nee Eggers) Ullrich. On August 7, 1954, Joan was united in marriage to Norbert B. Bassill at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Campbellsport. She was a Campbellsport High School graduate and worked at Regal Ware in Kewaskum for 27 years. Joan was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church and the Christian Women; she was a very active parish member working at the parish center, counting money, choir member, and part of the Mission Sewing Circle. Most important to Joan was the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Diane (Thomas) Zehren, Carol Martiny, and Lori (Mike) Mayer; grandchildren, Jamie Zehren, Cheri (Robbie) Manthei, Nicole (Andy) Vanica, Kim (special friend, Mark) Rowe, and Tim (special friend, Emily) Rowe; great-grandchildren, Braelon, Kylie, Devin, Nevaeh, Declan, Blake, and James; sisters, Beatrice Mueller and Theresa (Dick) Immel; sister-in-law, Lucille Bassill; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Mae; husband, Norbert; grandsons, Nicholas Martiny and Billy Mayer; son-in-law, Larry Martiny; brother, Jerry and his wife, Vicky; and brothers-in-law, Gene Roth and Joe Mueller.

Visitation was held Friday, June 2, from 3 p.m. until time of Mass at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 406 E. Main Street, Campbellsport.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, June 2, at 5 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. Rev. Mark Jones officiated and burial followed in St. Matthews Cemetery.

The Bassill family extends a special thank you to Joan’s granddaughters, Kimberly Rowe and Cheri Manthei, and the nurses and staff of Serenity Villa and Generations Hospice.
