Mathias “Buddy” Alois Schill, 86, of Campbellsport passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Serenity Villa in Campbellsport. He was born in Ashford on January 23, 1936, the son of Alois and Viola (nee Simon) Schill. Buddy went to school at St. Martin’s Grade School in Ashford from first to eighth grade and served at Mass many times. He graduated from Campbellsport High School in 1954 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1955. Buddy was part of the 3rd Armored Division for two years, stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky, France and Germany.

On July 12, 1958, Buddy married Beatrice “Beaty” Ries at St. Mary’s Church in Lomira. He was employed at Stella Cheese and then at Fairmont Foods. Later he was a fieldman for Cedarburg Dairy. In his spare time, he worked as a field rep for McKay Nursery. He taught his sons to hunt and fish and has left many wonderful memories. Buddy was a wonderful husband and a great dad and grandpa. He was proud to be a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Beaty; sons, Dennis (Mary), Steve (Kathy), Rick (Jennifer) and Nicholas (Stephanie); grandchildren, Robert (Chrissi) Beltezore, Mac and Abby Schill, Luke and Kristin Schill, Matty Schill and Wynn and Lucille Schill; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Bill (Bonnie) Schill; sisters, Jane (Gary) Willis and Jude Griffith; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sally (Norman) Serwe; in-laws, Frank and Margaret Ries; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bernice and Bill Cook and Pat and Eileen Ries; and nephew, Dave Cook.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 406 E. Main St., Campbellsport.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, August 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. Rev. Mark Jones and Rev. Neil Zinthefer will concelebrate and burial will follow in St. Matthew’s Cemetery with military honors.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Serenity Villa for their care and concern shown Buddy.

In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.
