Steven Jay Coulter, 59, of Brownsville, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 5, 2022, surrounded by his loving family after a three-year battle with cancer.
Steve was born the son of Ronald and Janet (Giese) Coulter on September 5, 1962, in Fond du Lac. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Lisa Balmer, on October 5, 1996, in Hartland. Together they raised two amazing children, Samantha, and Jack.
He was raised Lutheran and remained in the Faith throughout his life.
Steve graduated from Lomira High School in 1980. Following graduation, Steve drove semi over the road anywhere from the Mississippi to the East Coast. He also drove milk truck before starting his 30-year career at Quad Graphics.
He also volunteered his time with the Theresa Ambulance Service and Fire Department for ten years.
In his free time, Steve had many interests and talents. He was very gifted in his ability to fix, maintain, and operate machinery and vehicles. He had a love for fishing with family and friends and took part in many tournaments and trips throughout the years. In Steve’s younger years, he played softball and developed many lifelong friendships. Steve loved golfing with his son, cousins, and friends. Racing was also a passion of Steve’s. He enjoyed working on race cars and was part of offroad and sprint car pit crews. A special bond was formed with his daughter attending sprint car races together. Steve enjoyed 4-wheeling up north with friends, playing sheepshead, working on the farm, and memorable family vacations to Three Lakes each summer.
Steve will be remembered by his distinct voice, quick wit, sense of humor, good story telling, ability to make friends easily, honesty, devotion to family, strong personality, and his ability to enjoy life.
Steve is survived by his wife, Lisa; daughter, Samantha; son, Jack; and his little buddy, Scooter; Siblings: Ed (Diane) Coulter, Dennis (Laurie) Coulter, Gary (Chris) Coulter, Sandy (Mark) Herman, Sharee (Jim) Fritz; mother-in-law, Harriet Balmer; sisters-in-law, Beth (Greg) Udelhoven, Linda Balmer; and brother-in-law, Daniel (Vicky) Balmer. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, David P. Balmer; brother-in-law, David “Sluggo” Balmer; and nieces, Haleigh and Courtney Coulter.
Per Steve’s request, no formal services will take place, however, a celebration of Steve’s Life will take place on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Dan’s Village Bowl in Brownsville from 4-7 P.M.
Inurnment will take place at Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du Lac at a later date.
